Local Installation of Belvu
FTP and install Belvu
Executables for Sun, SGI and Dec Alpha are available via anonymous ftp
at
http://sonnhammer.sbc.su.se/download/software/belvu/.
1. FTP the appropriate file, uncompress it and copy it to a directory in
your path, e.g. /usr/local/bin.
2. Make sure that the Belvu binary is called 'belvu' by renaming the file
for your platform to belvu (e.g. "mv belvu.SUN belvu") and that it is
in your path.
3. Make sure it is executable (chmod 755 belvu).
Compile Belvu from source
You can get the belvu source as part of the ACEDB package at
ftp://ftp.sanger.ac.uk/pub/acedb/SUPPORTED/.
Download a file called ACEDB-source.version and follow the instructions to set it up for your operating system. Then type "make belvu".
